About Garfield Peak Trail
Starting near Crater Lake Lodge, this route climbs through hemlock and Shasta red fir forest, with whitebark pines appearing near the top. Several viewpoints look down on Phantom Ship and Dutton Cliff, while a few frame Wizard Island, with the Klamath Basin stretching south beyond the rim. Wildflowers, American pikas and yellow-bellied marmots add life along the way, and late afternoon light brings shifting colors over the lake.
