About Gumbo Limbo Trail
A paved, shaded path winds through a dense hardwood hammock of gumbo limbo trees, whose peeling red bark earns them the nickname tourist tree. Royal palms, ferns and air plants grow along the way, and the quiet walk is often overlooked in favor of the busier Anhinga Trail nearby. Alligators are unlikely here, so it suits a quieter walk through the forest. The route is wheelchair accessible.
