About Midway Geyser Basin
Boardwalks take you past several impressive hot springs and geysers in Midway Geyser Basin. The boardwalk loop highlights Grand Prismatic Spring, Yellowstone’s largest hot spring, known for its vivid colors, and passes the massive Excelsior Geyser Crater, which continuously discharges large volumes of water into the Firehole River and is now considered dormant. A short nearby trail leads to an elevated overlook with a broad view of Grand Prismatic.
