About Kīlauea Iki Trail
Descend through lush rainforest along a crater rim to a floor where a lava lake hardened after its 1959 eruption. The steep, rocky path crosses the solidified lava lake past steam vents, and you can peer into the vent that once erupted to great heights. Parking at the overlook is very limited, so arriving early helps. The loop gives a close look at the crater's floor and rim.
