About Bearfence Mountain Trail
Climbing a sheer rock wall and then over enormous jagged boulders is the thrill of this trail, and you'll need both hands. From the summit, 360-degree views take in the Shenandoah Valley and the surrounding mountains. The route heads down the far side of the rock to meet the Appalachian Trail, and the rock is unsafe when wet or icy. Pets are not allowed, and anyone with a fear of heights should skip it.
