About Avalanche Peak Trail
A steep ascent through a lodgepole pine forest gives way to expansive views of alpine peaks and Yellowstone Lake. The trail crosses scree slopes and switchbacks, culminating in a narrow ridgeline with breathtaking vistas. Grizzly bears frequent the area, particularly in autumn, as they feed on whitebark pine nuts. The summit offers stunning 360-degree views, including distant mountain ranges and the Teton Range on a clear day.
