About Summerland Trail
The trail follows Fryingpan Creek up the valley from White River Road, through old-growth forest, and climbs into subalpine meadows full of wildflowers. Views of Mount Rainier and Little Tahoma open up, and mountain goats are often spotted on the slopes. Campsites here are among the park's most popular and fill early in summer, so overnight stays need a permit. Pets aren't allowed on the trail, and it continues on to Panhandle Gap.
